“Now is a great time to be a video entrepreneur”

These were the words of my professor this evening in my Multimedia Storytelling graduate class at the University of Washington. Some key data points as to why it’s such a good time right now to be a video entrepreneur:

  • Video is supplanting much text on the web
  • There are fundamental shifts in media consumption toward video-centricity
  • Previously text was the primary vehicle for most news and information on the web
  • Video is now becoming the preferred mode of media consumption

The first bullet is the most astonishing if you think about it. Video is taking place of a lot of text on the web. People are consuming data through video much more than they are reading articles in a lot of cases. This is especially the case with the young demographic today. And with that, I leave you with this.
